Starting Small...

How many of us know where we want to go, we see the mountain of accomplishment we wish to attain and get overwhelmed at the hughness of it? Start small. This morning I was listening to an inspirational program and when the words start small was mentioned, it was as if I was handed a key to unlock the door that leads up the path of my mountain....
How many of us know where we want to go, we see the mountain of accomplishment we wish to attain and get overwhelmed at the hughness of it? Start small. This morning I was listening to an inspirational program and when the words "start small" was mentioned, it was as if I was handed a key to unlock the door that leads up the path of my mountain. I remember on my first visit back to Jamaica after I relocated to the U.S.A., a friend decided we were going on a trip to one of Jamaica's tourist attraction, the Dunn's River Falls. I had lived in Jamaica all my life and had never taken the time to enjoy one of the main tourist mecca. So now 27 years later I stood at the base of this beautiful creation, looking at it's awesome majestic height and decided, "I'm not going up there!" I looked at the mountain that had a wonderful adventure awaiting me and was overwhelmed by it and decided it was too big. Thank God with the coaxing of my friend I ventured towards this falls, filled with the promise of an adventures; but also filled with slippery paths - paths that could be conquered if I made the right steps each time they presented themselves. But I had to start small, and with each small step and the right step when the path became dangerously slippery, I was able to enjoy one of the greatest experiences of my life. I conquered that awesomely majestic mountain, filled with the possibilities of many dangerous falls by starting small. I was even able to stop and rest in the sweet pools along the way, to enjoy my journey and survey how far I'd gone from my initial step. What is your mountain that promises rewards of great accomplishments? Are you overwhelmed by the hughness of it? Approach it with small steps and keep taking the next step, before you know it... you are on top of the mountain, jubilant that you have made it and applauding yourself for taking the first step.
