the mess that is my desk:

-a diet pepsi, half-full or is it half-empty?!?!?!?

-computer speaker, turned on its side, high volume, blaring a renal consult in heavy e.s.language and intensive terms.

-a snow white key ring (missing her left hand), holding one car key, one electronic car key and one house key.

-a small stuffed piglet who is standing on his head using a diet pepsi bottle cap to balance in/upon.

-post-it notes in the shape of leaves (green), flowers (yellow) and oblong (orange), some written on, some not. some make sense, the grave majority do not. 

-cellophane from a little debbie snack cake, brownie.

-my medical i.d. disk on the chain that should be around my neck, but i hate wearing it.

-a calculator.

-my grandmother's magnifying glass on a chain.

-an old lottery ticket

-my computer mouse on a blue mouse pad with no particular design.

-an old prescription bottle for prednisone (p's poison ivy med) which now holds ibuprofen.

-a paper napkin with a cowboy silhouette for ali's scrapbook from her part in the play "slue foot sue" ... she was slue foot sue, extraordinaire.

-a bird comprised of a bell body, felt scarf and cap, rubber wings, pipe cleaner legs, rubber beak and wooden head (made by ali circa 2002)

-a stack of opened and unopened mail.

-a notebook with poem titles

-a grocery list: saline solution, dinner?!, milk, frozen yogurt and soda. (which by the way was left behind when we shopped yesterday and we subsequently arrived home with: soda, mooselodge frozen yogurt, lamb, mixed vegies, hot-pockets, brownies, milk and lactaid, cheddar and cottage cheese).

-misc scraps of paper with medical record numbers, terms, etc. most of which must be shredded and/or burned.

-paystubs.

-a cup with a snowman on it, filled with pencils and pens, a seam ripper and a nail file.

-one very large flint-knapped spear head, burnt sienna in color, heavy and sharp.

-a small ceramic basket emptied of paper clips.

-a snowglobe with snow white, left hand intact.

-a jar full of my grandmother's button collection.

-a crabtee and evelyn collectors tin full of tissue-wrapped dough creations (carole and bekah-boo circa the mid 80s.)

-an island orchard candle.

-an old photo of carole and bekah-boo, dressed alike, looking nearly twin-like circa 1988.

-the other computer speaker, upright but unplugged.

-computer microphone for conference calls (cobwebs on same)

-index cards with poetry alphabetized, categorized and going?!!?!?

-annie dillard's for the time being.

-three stenopads full of scribbling madness

-one of the billion aol cds that arrive in the mail weekly
