red fish, blue fish, white fish, ice fish ... i want some bull catfish, any color will do.  so does my daughter.  we stuffed ourselves with haddock this weekend, the dreamy cold water whitefish, but the texture of the meat and the creamy-dreamy flavor made us want catfish again.  we're supposed to go ice-fishing this weekend. this supposedly involves a hike to the middle of the lake, but i'd rather hike the trail to our tried and true fishing spot, lie flat to the bank and plunge my fist (full of stink bait) through the ice pack and find a catfish.  catfish, catfish, yummy, yummy catfish."must have catfish!" ali has been roaming the house chanting same.  my kingdom if i could get that kid a catfish, and then distract her, so that i could eat it!  no that would be mean.  i better get two!

the temperature:  fell off the thermometer, but that means the snow will stay and it looks this year, decidedly a bit more like winter.  i love how the light floods into the house, whether the sun is out or not, everything enhanced by the white backdrop.  but towards dusk, as i start to flip on the lamps and overheads, there is not a bulb in the house that seems bright enough.  i feel as if i'm going blind between the hours of 6pm and whenever it is that i drag myself off to bed.  clarity seems to reduced under the half-assed light of a 40-60 watt bulb.  i am never so happy as when i get that first splash in the morning of snow-bright landscape leaking in all the windows.  up early to work, lamps are only needed for a short time, and then i just open the snow flood gates, curtains agape, and that ever-pleasing natural light source drips in, a blissful "does a body good" infusion. 

the good, the bad and the ugly:  i finally have my office/library organized, having moved computers around, unstacked the backstacks and returned books to the shelves, finding the carpet after clearing up a huge paper trail and a "to sort" pile, shoving my great grandfather's big puffy chair over by the window, adjusting the lamps, etc. etc. 

words that the c: prompt will not recognize:  i was trying and failing miserably to resurrect an "old" computer over the weekend, to see if there was anything on it, before i give it to my brother to "crash" and restore.  i came close a few times but then drifted away when at odd points i didn't know what to tell the flashing c: prompt in the dos screen.  the following words do not work "f***, dammit, whatdoyouwantmetotypehere?, goodnight, f***you," and the ever-popular, "forgetthisshit!"
