why i am growly-owly today:  i worked half-time on my days off.  while i still had essentially half the days then as "days off," the work was intensive and "incoming" status very high. it was full-time stress managed in half the time.  i was fighting (and beat!!!) a summer chest cold and still managed to get some cardio in, but other than that ... there never seems to be enough time any one day if you are half-timing on your supposed "days off."  now it's a "real" work day, and i'm burnt to a crisp already, my brain an arson crime scene! since i set the fire myself! some days i wish i could "dumb down" and work would be easier.  i could pretend to be "just barely getting it" and get all the low-end, less intensive work and just "cruise," but i realize on most levels that would "burn" me in the worst fashion, being 10 times as bad as being brain-fried with good reason.

this is now an attempt to build a sentence without out quotations:  a sentence without quotes, this is.

what's on my platter at the moment:  a day in surgery, vicariously of course, but still surgery.  no! i'm not separating siamese twins today, but i have been called upon to do so in the past (vicariously of course), being part of the hand-picked team to document same.  a day of nosebleeds would be a welcome change, but i know from the preops yesterday, it's far more complicated than that.  i'll probably have a nosebleed by the end of the day, when my brain leaks out via my nostrils. 

accomplishments carried out yesterday that have carry-over "pep" for today:  was able to spend some time on my writing in the last couple of days, in and around everything else, answering mail and making sure to keep what few "contacts" i have in the literary world, alive and well.  am a bit more organized and ready to start shoving things out the door, some by request and some with nerve-y resolve after reading guidelines and such.  i call that progress, and it does tend to bind me through the "real" work week.

what am i really saving myself for:  7 or 8 pm, when work is done for the day, and i begin to drool in pavlovian style because it's time to hit the ground and get some cardio in!

famous last words from my loverboy:  "i'm running out to get some soy milk."  he will most likely turn up on our milk cartons next week because it's "maxwell street days" around here, that insane day when shopkeepers throw all their wares out on the sidewalk at mega-percent off.  sweetie-guy loves to shop, and so i fear i will never see him again.
