A successful suspense/thriller keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. That's why I like stories that seem realistic and leave a hard punch. This story is one of my m..

Dog Spelled Backwards, good food, bad movies and lots of art.

A few of the 8-billion nicknames we have given our Yorkie mix:  His real name is C.J.  We don’t know what that stands for, because the woman we got him from let her grandson name him.  C.J. is about 1 year, nearly five months old.  The grandson was a mere 3 or so when he named the dog.  I suppose if we could have him hypnotized to relive a past experience, he might be able to tell us what C.J. stood for the moment he named him, but for now it remains a mystery.  So, we call him C.J., but we also call him:

--Mr. Seege

--Seeeeeeeeeeeeegers

--Seeeeg

--Mr. J.

--Mr. Carl Johnson … or Calvin Jenson or Christipher Jeepers … and late last night Paul said, “Did you know I’m a god, or Dog Spelled Backwards, if you prefer, and this little guy is Christ Jesus.”  I laughed so hard I almost wet the bed.  Today, whenever Paul is perplexed about something he looks at CJ and says, "What would Christ Jesus do?"

--Mr. Potters  --that’s what I call him when he’s brave and goes pee-pee outside at 5:30 a.m. when we get up, even if it’s just 24-degrees out, which has happened twice already

this fall season.

--Mr. Poopers –the C.J. went “number two” version of the above.

--Mr. Pooper Potters  --doy … I think you all get where this is going … when he goes “number one” and “number two” despite the freezing cold morning dew.

--Little Boy.

--You Big Monster, You.  –what we call him when he barks at anything that’s twice his size, which is just about everything he encounters.

--LoverBoy.

--KissyBoy.  –the last two when he’s licking and or kissing.  Kissing for C.J. means biting your wrist or your fingers, because everyone knows dogs can’t really pucker up.  He saves this activity for bedtime.  When the house is closing up for the night and he’s had his last chance to be Mr. Potters, Mr. Poopers or Mr. Pooper Potters, he goes about the house biting wrists before he calls it a night.

Great things we made and then proceeded to stuff ourselves with this weekend:  Lots and lots of pollock-the fish not the artist; however, if you prepare fish right, it is art!  Friday I pan-seared it, after first sautéing onions and a variety of spices in the pan and had it with cabbage slaw.  Saturday night, Paul deviled it with mayo and mustard and a number of spices and baked it.  Sometime yesterday, there were also two really good Paul creations of ground round, onions, spices and cabbage … the first with curry, the second without.  This morning, fantastic scrambled eggs with the same onions, cabbage and curry powder … and tonight we are seeing red, need the blood, need the iron, gonna have some fried pork liver with onions of course, the rest of the cabbage, etc. etc.  We’ve been low-carbing it, slimming more back to our regular selves and gearing up for a winter at the gym.

Excellent ways to spend a weekend:  Friday night we watched “Kill Bill.”  Artistically, there was stuff we liked, visually and sound-wise, and there was the hushed off-to-the side commenting on this symbolic aspect or that …  but, by the time she it got to the final fight scene that seemed longer than the whole movie, in total, we lost interest in commenting on artistic and/or symbolic anything and vowed not to see any of the sequels.  Paul promised to plunge a long sword through my chest if I even suggest such a thing, and I will do the same if he brings it up.

Early on Saturday morning Paul watched “Oceans Eleven,” but I slept on and throughout, because having a puppy curled up in front of your abdomen is just as sleep-inducing as having a toddler curled up in the very same place.  It’s like a drug.  You can’t pull yourself up from the depths of it.

Later on, we watched the replay of the debate that we had missed, cuddled under quilts with our goofy little dog, and then spent the day talking about it.  Saturday night, we made sure to watch the first 10 minutes of SNLive, hoping they would spoof what we had seen and gleaned, and were pleased that they got the most of what we, too, were commenting on and/or laughing about … especially when Bush let out the secret that there is more than one Internet!  Who knew?!?!?!??!

I was working on artwork most of Saturday afternoon and evening, and Paul was on the Internets, but we both pulled ourselves away from what we were doing to catch the SNLive scoop and then shut off our otherwise 90 useless cable channels.

Okay, sometimes on weekends, when we are cooking and putzing, we watch Lifetime network movies and make fun of them, so we do use the cable a little more often than above would suggest, and we’re not always on the History channel.

Paul knapped flint (glass) all over the back deck this afternoon, for some jewelry orders that presented themselves on Friday and I worked on my artwork again, netting myself more “art time” this weekend than I figured would be possible.  A definite coup for both of us, the art time.  I did the menial household chores as well, and cleaned up a mess I had made in the garage, we went shopping for more healthy fare and now are settling in for the coming week.

“The Little Girl” just got home and the “Little Dog” has been licking and/or biting at her wrists ever since she walked in the door.

Weird, cuz that’s how we greeted her too!

Have a good week all.   -a
