Issa Hounding Holder over GOP program 2/2/2012 10:45:57 AM Darrell Issa, Chairman of the Congressional Oversight Committee, has been harassing Attorney General Holder over his role in "Fast and Furious" which got Border Patrolman
Brian Terry killed.
Michelle Bachmann famously butchered the word “chutzpa” during an Iowa speech, but she’s got nothing on the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Darrell Issa, who has, along with his ideologue buddies on the committee, been badgering Attorney General Holder about his handling of the “Fast and Furious” FBI operation which allowed several thousand weapons to get into the hands of the Cartels in Mexico, resulting in the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. Not that they wouldn’t have had them anyway thanks to GOP policy concerning guns.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ran four of these operations, allowing guns to make it past interdiction processes to see if they could trace the logistics. Three of them were run by the Bush Administration. The Cartels purchase 80% of their weapons in the United States using “straw” buyers, Americans who buy semi-automatic weapons (which can be easily converted to automatic weapons as we saw in the iHop incident, where a mentally deranged killer actually did it himself). These straw buyers then smuggle them back into Mexico. Okay, here’s the chutzpa part. Republican politicians have been doing everything in their power to make it easier for anybody who wants one to buy a gun, including the mentally ill. The last three incidents (iHop, Gabby Gifford, and Virginia Tech.) were committed by mentally ill perpetrators. I may have missed one since these incidents no longer seem to warrant front page coverage. I found out about the iHop incident on the Internet, and I still get most of my news the old-fashioned way, from a newspaper. Yet, a Florida politician sponsored legislation making it legal for a person with a mental problem with no previous violent behavior to purchase a gun. 30,000 people die every year from gun deaths due to suicide, accident, or murder, 300,000 every ten years. That’s almost as many who die from car accidents. Yet these hypocrites claim to be pro-life.
Let’s take a short look at Republican behavior under similar circumstances testifying before Henry Waxman, the democratic chairman of the oversight committee when the democrats were in control. Alberto Gonzales had a bad case of amnesia when asked about his involvement in the Federal Prosecutor scandal where democratic appointments were either dismissed or harassed for not bringing indictments against democrats. One of Gonzales’ aides, Monica Gooding, fell on her sword for Gonzales, assuming much of the blame. Coincidentally Gooding is a graduate of Regent University law school whose precursor was Oral Roberts Law School. Yes, the same one Michelle Bachmann graduated from before it closed the year after. These people believe dinosaurs walked the earth alongside humans. Many of them were waiting for a holy space ship on May 21 and Oct. 21 to take them to their Martian heaven. Many are still waiting because of the Mayan prediction about the end of the world.
Here’s a suggestion for you. Rather than run a Fast and Furious campaign run by the bungling Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, let’s send in Seal Team Six and maybe Seal Teams one through five and take out all the cartel leaders. Of course that’s not going to happen since the cartels own the Mexican governments, especially the small towns, despite behavior that would embarrass the Taliban. Here’s another suggestion: Legalize drugs and the cartels will all die on the vine, and we’ll also have a nice new tax base. Americans are obviously already druggies anyway or the cartels wouldn’t be so rich. At least legalize marijuana. Ask any teenager how hard it is to purchase grass. About as easy as it is to get a gun. Even Ron Paul thinks drugs should be legalized and he’s one of theirs. Come on, Ron, run as an independent. You know you want to. We’d be saved from all that trickle down.
Want to see something funny. Take a look at Darrell Issa’s bio on Wikipedia.
How did that guy every get elected to Congress? He sounds like a Dick Tracy character.
