Gastric Bypass was performed 8/15/05..and I continue my
journey as post op success
I am now 2.5 yrs post op..and I cannot believe where the time has gone..You recall the days waiting for surgcal approval and then..it just seems you get caught up in daily applications of vitamins- fluids- protein and each daily dose.. It can be overwhelming especially that first year..but once you relax and focus that there is more to life than just diet/ nutrition you will see your life takes other curves..and you just bend with it and grow..and your quality of life improves at every turn..without a doubt!
I am successfully maintaining a weight loss of 125lbs..having gone from a size 28 to size 14..(even into a size 12 jean) and I think that is fabulous..but am I satisfied? I don't think I will ever be happy until I have the body I want..it doesn't mean I'm not happy with my current weight etc..It means I workout- I exercise- I work to improve my fitness..I am tougher on myself than my trainer (no kidding there). He says he looks to keep me healthy and uninjured..and I believe him. Many days we will do an hour workout..and he will still see me there- 2hrs later- after I did more cardio and just working to improve some technique he showed me..He has been a good navigator for me..and I highly recommend a personal trainer. :-)
I joined Fitness Incentive, a year ago, right after Erik Chopin won Biggest Loser and then Bill and Jim Germanakos
both won the following season- they all worked out at my gym- Fitness Incentive- once they were home and working on their own fitness preparing for the Finals.. That was amazing to me- 2 seasons of winners- all NY and all using my gym..I have missed Erik twice in my gym- but he moved on and sold his business in Commack and does a lot of personal appearances..and he also had a tummy tuck after the show.
He was on the cover of OH magazine with his plastic surgeon. (OH is the magazine of Obesity Help- which covers a lot about Gastric bypass and lap band surgery).
Anyway- I had been a member at Ballys for 3 yrs before joining FI and let me tell you- working in a smaller gym has helped me tremendously..Im more familiar with equipment- how to work effectively- this gym offers 120 classes a week..I have tried many and the kickboxing and step class and rebound are my favorite- I even bought my own rebounder..and last fall- I began riding a bike again..YES! and the first day I rode 15 miles- next day 14 miles- next day I went in and asked for a new seat! LOL Yes but I still continued ridiing..and I LOVE IT..I usually ride for 90 mins..and my favorite was when I rode from my house to Good Sam Hospital for a support meeting n back again..and was not out of breath and enjoyed the ride..ANother day I rode 4miles to Belmont Lake- rode around the huge lake- then back 4 miles- passed my house- down center of town to the other lake- Argyle Lake- rode around that lake twice..stopped 20 mins for a drink and rode home..THAT was so much fun..and again testing myself..just to see if I can do it..and I realized one thing- I CAN DO ANYTHING
AND that is what I have learned as a result of my surgery.. that I can accomplish and continue to realize goals Ive set..and there is nothing like living life in the moment.
AND I'm very happy with that aspect of my weight loss.
And I'm sure I will have plastic surgery to get rid of the remaining belly fat ( only 8lbs said the surgeon). I look toned everywhere else but my tummy and that sucks..and Im going to get a tattoo this year- my lower back..cause I think its so sexy :)
And my next blogging will be as I follow the Rangers through the Playoffs!
