Standard Time Returns
11/1/2008 9:38:22 AM
I don't know about you, but I'm ready for normal . . .
Yesterday was Halloween and as usual, we watched our young grandsons Trick or Treat in their scary costumes and all the while I was able to forget about the roller coaster economic and political climate of late. It was just plain fun, as Halloween should be. Traditionally the family gets together afterwards to eat pizza and relax. This year was no different, except the weather was unusually warm, and that was a blessing for all the kiddies and parents walking the neighborhoods.

I am truly ready for some "normal" and look forward to the upcoming holiday season. I enjoy the shopping, planning of meals, and opening of our home to friends and family. It's a time to enjoy each others company and reflect on our blessings as well as the new year.

As I dive back into my writing with a new energy, I hope to tap into my muse and unlease that spark of creativity and, yes genius, every writer yearns for. It may sound boring, but I'm also thinking about that "standard" or the benchmark I have sought throughout my life. The benchmark doesn't change, per se, but circumstances and people do. And fortunately, many individuals have come into my life - incredible people who inspired and encouraged me from childhood to present day. I have written about these people in my short stories, memoirs, and now my poems.

My life hasn't been trouble-free or easy at times; whose has? But I choose to learn from trials, glean lessons, and share my discoveries with whomever is interested. And I love to read about others' experiences too. That's why I like Authorsden so much; that, and getting lost in my favorite bookstores. Thanks for your support and encouragement.
