I think about people I used to know and wonder where they are . . .
Some friends stand tall and strong as the constant redwood tree,
While others are like the sand, and shift with the tides of life.
As years go by I find I do not understand the fickle, moody mind,
And so will not rack my brain, wondering if I made offense.
I cannot know what struggles others have
Even though I long to apply healing salve.
Some friends are beyond my reach
Too far for me to know or help.
But maybe one day we will unite
And talk about old times and make new memories.
