More pounce to the ounce
3/5/2010 10:37:31 AM
Everyone loves a cat story. This is a story about a cat who earned his name.
Picture this:

Jeff and Joyce arise and go to breakfast. She does not feed the cat.

Jeff and Joyce return to the house around nine. One hour after the cat usually gets fed.

Joyce fills his glass bowl.

She feeds cat on the dining room table so dog doesn't eat cat food.

Joyce's hand holding to dish is three inches from the table top. Cat is six feet away.

Joyce is unaware as cat makes one mighty flying ponce toward the food and propels through the air at the speed of a bullet, hits her hand with his head and flies on over the table to the floor and lands where the dish hits the tile floor and breaks into a tiny billion scattered pieces. Dog and cat attack the glob of cat food.

Husband Jeff, sitting at the kitchen table, calmly turns the page of his newspaper and says, "Better hurry and get the pets before they eat glass."

I got this cat weeks ago. He is ten months old and was at an animal fair downtown. He was one of the featured cats that a no kill facility was showing. He’d had a home for a short time and his owner died. His name at the shelter was Nugget. But I found out from the vet that the short term owner had named him Smokey.

I now call him Pounce.
