Life in and Out of Balance

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they will never cease to be amused!
The past two months have proven to be alternately tragic and comedic, making me "normal" I reckon. When my artist friend, Carol Funke, and I titled Volume III of our Circle of Life Trilogy, Life on a Seesaw, I knew to expect the ups and downs that hit me recently, yet I merrily swung from one to the other clueless for days.
However, the proverbial seesaw has once again balanced itself.
The extended illness and resulting death of one of my sons-in-law was intermittently interrupted with speaking and publication opportunities that yo-yoed my emotions and yes, even prompted some new poetry efforts from me.
As Marcus Aurelius reminded me just this morning in reading Meditations, some things are within our control, and some are not. It is only after we have faced up to this fundamental rule and learned to distinguish between what weu can and cannot control that inner tranquility and outer effectiveness become possible. Ah yes.
