IF YOU'RE NOT AFRAID OF THE TRUTH: 2/1/2005 12:39:54 PM If this doesn't upset you, I question your love of America! I just heard an interview with a State Rep. in Georgia. When he was done speaking, I felt sick to my stomach. I don't care what your political leanings are, this should sicken you, too. WAKE UP, PEOPLE! The following is pasted from his website.
----------------------------
On January 10, 2005, the Speaker of the Georgia
House, convinced legislators to pass a rule giving him
absolute power to win every vote, in every committee
that comes through the State House of Representatives.
Not just his party. Him.
This power, the power of a dictator, does not exist in
any other state in these United States. Not now, not
ever. All he needs to control every vote are his Hawks.
(Hawks is their term. It is even on their name badges.)
The Speaker’s Hawks are floaters. They may vote in
any committee, at any time, on any piece of legislation
at the discretion of the speaker. The fact that the Hawks
only vote at the discretion on the speaker is where the
dictatorship part comes in. And none of them have to
listen to all the lengthy discussion.

If a piece of legislation this man wants is about to lose by two votes, he sends in THREE of his "hawks" and they tip the vote. This is "through the looking glass", folks. Don't tell me how free we are... in a country where this is allowed to happen. Go ahead, DEFEND THIS! I dare you!
