Greetings to all! I've been writing again, which takes up all of my spare time lately, and have been falling behind in other aspects of day to day life. It isn't easy to juggle the part time job, parenting, household stuff, pet care and all of that etc. while also finding appropriate amounts of time to create and enter another world (write). Don't even get me started on various computer hardware issues that bring everything to a complete halt (time on the phone with various tech. support people...) I am expecting a new router on my doorstep today as the previous one was defective...
Now that wonderful Christmas is past, the decorations tucked away, the tree outside for the birds to enjoy and there are no more frantic shop-a-thons to do during lunch hours, I have that lovely cushion of time back to use for writing. I do my best stuff January-March.
I hope to simultaneously work on a big ambitious ya novel and story 3 of the Teddy and Pip series. Will see how that goes. May be asking way too much of myself to have a new book out by Christmas 2010, but...
I gifted my almost-12-year-old with books for Christmas, including some classics like Anne of Green Gables and a new one called the Evolution of Calpurnia Tate (we are listening to that one on CD) - but she seems most thrilled by the newest Wimpy Kid book. Sigh. She will get to them all, she is an avid reader and well-rounded in her tastes. I'll admit that Wimpy is good for chuckles and the pictures are very funny. The message, if there is meant to be one, well, lets just say that is not the point of the books, expect them to be silly, funny, and pointless. And do not look to Greg Heffley as a role model, please.
