Random Acts of Thought

On irony, life, and broken glasses
Haven't blogged here in forever. I actually tried, but the blog didn't seem to work. Had the same problem tonight, but instead of putting "enable the editor" I put "disable" and bingo! Ironic, right?

I've been trying to find traditional publishing for most of my life. Have, in magazines like McCall's and Cat Fancy. But have had too many near misses to count.

So imagine both my delight for the feat and my irony over the facts when my sister Stephanie Parker McKean married and moved to Scotland with the Reverend Alan McKean--and both are having traditionally published books released in August! Stephanie's publisher is in the UK, and her husband's publisher is in Texas, where she was born and has always preferred to live.

I'll write more about that irony later, but on life...I ran into one of my dearest friends recently. She's struggling with cancer, but remains active in the community, an inspiration not because she's ill and going on, but because she's always done nothing but surge forward, putting her considerable talents to use while mentoring others.
She is what's best in life, and I have promised myself that I'll keep her very much in heart and mind day to day.

Finally--broken glasses. Two pairs. I'm usually fairly careful with my writing, but I can't see and I wanted to touch base with the AD community today. While the editor worked and nothing had distracted me.

So if this is full of words, sentences or thoughts that make no sense--I'm squinting while I type through the less broken pair of glasses.

Take care, all!
