We're bored, now what? 7/21/2012 6:38:03 AM We’re Bored, Now What?
It’s summertime and your sons are bored stiff. What can you do to stop the constant moans, “Mom, we’re bored. There’s nothing to do.” If you can brainstorm and come up with new ideas, everyone will be in a happier frame of mind. Did you know July is combat boredom month? Here are some ideas to brighten your days.
•Try a new adventure: Maybe your child loves spending time at the beach or studying marine life. Try a trip to the local seaquarium. He or she will love exploring the wonders of the sea.
•Read a new book on their favorite subject: Perhaps your child loves reading but has already read his books so often that they’re all dog eared from use. Visit the library. Your daughter might focus on horses constantly. Encourage her to read about riding, or an autobiography of a famous rider like George Morris, or Margie Engle.
•Take a camping trip or even a trip to the park: Encourage your children to spend time away from the computer. An adventure at the park or a camping trip might be just the ticket. It would also allow for exercise, which is a stress reliever. Enjoying natural surroundings is also great for fostering a cheerful attitude.
•Take a day trip somewhere you’ll all enjoy: It could be a trip to the state park or the amusement park. You’ll find lots of ways to entertain them and yourself.
•If your child is very interested in a sport, let them spend more time doing that; Let’s say your daughter, Kate is on the swim team. Let her spend more time practicing. Your son, Joey, might love sports cars. Take him to cruise nights where he can admire all kinds of cars.
I hope these ideas will help you have wonderful summer fun with your family.
