ABSEIL FOR OXFORD CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
My story
On 23 September, I am abseiling down a very tall building to help raise funds for the fantastic Children's Ward at the Oxford Children's Hospital.
Our 4-year-old Grandson, Lewis (PICTURED BEFORE TREATMENT) has Langerhans’s Cell Histiocytosis, which is a tumour in his skull and treated with Chemotherapy/Steroids at Children’s Cancer Ward. He is a very brave little boy, taking all the nasty treatment in his stride, he has even been filmed having his treatment, to show its not, as he says "scary".
Less than 50 children a year in the UK are diagnosed with Langerhans’s Cell Histiocytosis and Kamran's Ward is a centre of excellence.
Lewis is just one of the many children treated annually on this fantastic ward, where the Doctors, Nurses, and Play Specialists do an astounding job, often very traumatic.
Many of the children need to stay for prolonged periods in the ward, usually with their Mums and/or Dads, and all the toys, PlayStations, WII's etc. that all children love are donated privately, through schemes like this. There is also a vast amount of medical equipment funded through the charity.
Lewis is progressing well with his treatment, which will probably last another year or so, and he is likely to be under the supervision of the ward for a further 10 years.
Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast, and totally secure. Your details are safe with Just Giving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. Therefore, it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Alternatively, please make cheques made payable to: Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Charitable Fundsand post to: 32 Tennyson Drive, Newport Pagnell MK16 8PH, UK.
Many thanks
