| Carlton Davis is working on a new book -first a website, called the Art Dockuments which are tales of the Drive-by Art Gallery. See it at www.artdock.net |

The Art Dockuments are stories about the exhibits in the Art Dock- the world's first and perphaps only drive-by art gallery, The Art Dockuments cover a period in Los Angeles art history from 1981-1986. They are a humerous, and poignant retelling of the Downtown Los Angeles Bohemian art community in the days of Ronald Reagan, when it was illegal to live in old industrial buildings. Some of the stories are "Christ among the Vagrants" which tells about how art could only be exhibited as a Christmas ornament, "Locations for Work", which tells the bizarre occurance of contemporary art stolen and subsequent showing on local TV, and "Fountain" a peice about art and the LA Olympics where the water heater fountain was tagged by the building department as illegal plumbing. Check out under stories by the author his "Prelude," that describes how the gallery began as a joke. After that check out the website http://www.artdock.net to see three quarters of the Art Dockuments. The writing project is still on going with the final act called the Business of Art yet to be finished. When the project is done your author will be looking to convert the Art Dockuments into an electronic book and a hardbound edition.
