1. LA wasn’t always Los Angeles. It was called El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles. Translation: The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels

2. Los Angeles was the first Spanish civilian settlement in Southern California.

3. LA first served as a resting place for the Spanish king’s troops.

4. Avila Adobe, the oldest house in Los Angeles, was built in 1818.
