(Baltimore, MD – May 8, 2005) Thousands of Baltimore residents woke on up Mother’s Day 2005, to the voices of grandmother Celia Ford, daughter Theresa Allen, and granddaughter Pamela Simonson authors of the best selling collection of family sayings, famous quotes, and prayers, on WMAR Channel 2, the ABC affiliate.
2 The Point, one of the longest running public affairs programs in Baltimore, hosted by ABC News Reporter, Terry Owens at 6:00 AM, played host to the grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter team. Ford, Allen, and Simonson were 75, 50, and 25 years old when they wrote their collection Pearls of Wisdom From Three Generations published by Thelemaque Publishing. Owens thought it a fitting tribute to mothers of all ages and to his viewing audience to interview the guests.
The special Mother’s Day interview briefly highlighted the history and plans of the authors, speakers, and columnists. Owens touched on the book, as well as their advice column, Ask Pearls of Wisdom, currently running in the Washington Informer. The column is growing in popularity and exposure.
The Afro American Newspaper debuted a sample column in tribute of Mother’s Day week and The Reporter Newspaper in Akron, Ohio also plans to run the column. The Generation X’er, Baby Boomer, and Depression Baby answers reader’s questions from three different perspectives.
Hailed as “Elder Grace to Youthful Face”, Ford, Allen, and Simonson are also inspirational speakers. Among the others guests Owens has interviewed in the past years are, Iyanla Vanzant, Maya Angelou, and Kirk Franklin.
