In Memory of

March 15, 1977 – April 13, 1999


Back to You

When I walked into a place--
A place I once knew,
A place where tiny footsteps
Led me back to you,
Where you first learned to crawl
And smiled when you walked,
And you got your first tooth,
And where you first talked...
I remembered you, with love.

When I walked through a home--
A home I once knew,
A home where many visions
Led me back to you,
Where sisters shared a bond
And discussed all their fears,
Where they dressed for first dances
In their early teenage years...
I remembered you, with love.

When I walked to the patio--
A place I once knew,
A place where small handprints
Led me back to you,
Where impressions of childhood
I touched with my hand,
Where a memory in the cement
Gave me a moment so grand...
I remembered you, with love,

As I smiled, and looked above.

Subject: A poem written in memory of a loved one who has passed
(Note: The subject has nothing to do with the organization the contest benefits.)
Line limit: 40 lines
Deadline: February 28, 2013
