Pieces of the Quilt: The Mosaic of An African American Family, is Narrative Non-Fiction, African American History. The book contains 250 pages, Table of Contents, Glossary of Genealogical Terms, Appendix, and Index.

The Video Trailer gives readers a glance into the book, and it's contents. It is about the author's search for her roots. The author's ancestors are brought alive through their achievements. They were slaves, freemen, Soldiers, Ministers, Artists, Politicians, Inventors, and, businessemen. They were a mixture of African/Native/black, and in Virginia were labled, Free Persons of Color, Mulatto, and/or Colored. In Pennsylvania they were Colored, Mulatto, Negro, or black.

They are the people who made up the Mosaic of African Americans.
