Self Publishing was the topic of his speaking engagement at Hadassah's Lunch and Learn program on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Hadassah's main office on Old Court Rd., in Pikesville, MD. Peter G. Engelman, a prolific writer and author of ten books talked about his writing experiences during his retirement years.
The group of about 50 (mostly women) were introduced into the digital world of writing and reading as Mr. Engelman presented his Nook reading tablet, with all of its ingenuity and as an example of the technology changes taking place in the new digital world of reading. Mr. Engelman pointed out that Amazon's online book store sold more Ebooks last year than they did paper backs. This factoid showed how quickly the world's publishing platform is changing from traditional modes of offset printing to electronic digital files where books are downloaded to computers and tablets rather than sold off of bookstore shelves.
The audience, fascinated by the discussion, participated in the program, asking many questions. The 45 minute talk was augmented by tasty refreshments provided by the chapter.
