Folklorist Gary R. Varner has created a new 18 month calendar illustrated with full color photographs of some of California's amazing prehistoric rock art. These images created by shamans, hunters and initiates from the Owens Valley Paiute of the Great Basin, the Maidu and Miwok of Northern California and the Luiseno and Diegueno Indian people of Southern California are fine examples of sympathetic magic used to ensure success in the hunt and battle, vision quests and as part of puberty initiations.
The calendar (January 2010 through June 2011) is marked with holidays for the United States, Canada and Great Britain.
