| Ms. Judy Thompson, administrator of PSI 22, Public School, K thru 8th grade, has invited Lillian Cauldwell to speak to the school's parents about working with their teenagers without anyone loosing control. |
PSI 22 in Astoria, New York, through their school administrator has asked Ms. Lillian Cauldwell so speak at their school in February to address the problems that parents of teenagers are now facing.
It seems that too many parents have abdicated their responsibility of raising their teens as parents and resorted to treating their children as their friends. Because of this current trend, many parents of teenagers are loosing the battle in understanding or communicating with their teens without serious reprecussions.
After reviewing many websites and looking for speakers to address this growing problem in PSI 22, Ms. Thomas came across Ms. Cauldwell's website and decided to contact her.
Last Thursday afternoon, Ms. Cauldwell received a phone call from Ms. Thomas. They spoke for one hour. Ms. Cauldwell gave several suggestions to Ms. Thomas to pass along to the concerned parents.
1. Be Consistent
2. Both spouses should be in full agreement. Don't allow the teen "to divide and conquer."
3. Discipline the teen immediately. Don't wait for 'your spouse to come home and discipline. By then, it's too late.'
Ms. Thomas will see how many parents will attend the event. If the turn-out is strong, Ms. Thomas and Lillian Cauldwell plan on offering Ms. Cauldwell's speaking on parenting to other schools in the New York City area.
If everything goes as planned, Ms. Thomas and Lillian Cauldwell hope to spread a 'grass-roots' movement in New York and have it spread throughout the world since parenting is not limited to the States, alone.
