LA area writers are invited to participate in the new critique group being formed at Glendale’s cozy Chevy Chase Branch library. Lead by Glendale resident and award-winning author of THIS IS THE PLACE, the first meeting is Wednesday, January 7th. at 6 p.m. Thereafter the group will meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
The Chevy Chase Libary has been called "Glendale's best-kept secret." Picture windows overlook a gold course and it is located in a quiet canyon area of the city.
Co-leader of the new group, Elizabeth Evans, says, “We welcome writers, beginners or experienced, published or not, any genre. Our goals will be determined by the make-up of the group.” She plans to teach a mini-lesson on some aspect of writing and move from there to a guided, supportive critique of each participant’s work. Those who attend should be willing to read the work of others and to bring their suggestions for improvement.
In addition to fiction and creative nonfiction books, Howard-Johnson’s short stories and poetry appear regularly in review journals both in print and online. She also wrote a screenplay, THE KILLING GROUND, and is a columnist for The Pasadena Star News and Home Décor Buyer.
