On 25th September, I appeared in BBC4's 3-part Documentary "Reader, I Married Him." Part 2 will be repeated on BBC4 this coming Sunday, at 10.05pm UK time.
I took part in an e-fit experiment, along with several other women, to make an ideal image of Mr. Darcy, from Pride & Prejudice, . The resulting images were hilarious - something like Mr. Potato Head or various frightening criminals or soap stars. They also interviewed several of us about what we thought of different aspects of romantic fiction, including how sex is treated in modern "chick lit", and how we perceive the characters of our favourite classic heroes and heroines. I'm glad I recorded part one as one of my comments was included in that.
I'm in a fair amount of part 2, (repeated this Sunday) and might be in part 3, about Heroines - 9.00pm to 10.00pm, BBC4 - as they asked me what I thought about Lizzy Bennet.
This is a great little series of documentaries, presented by Daisy Goodwin, the top poetry presenter for the BBC. Her informal style is very friendly and watchable. There is also an interview with Jilly Cooper and other women writers.
