I've signed a contract with Lachesis Publishing, a new Canadian firm, for my historical fiction novel, "The Accidental Spy."
Lachesis publishes in both electronic and print format. Publication date has not yet been announced.
The novel concerns Dandy Dan McCracken, a rogue wandering about eastern Pennsylvania and living by his wits in the middle years of the American Revolution. Through circumstance, he becomes a spy, first for the British and then for the Americans.
Injured and on the run from the law, he is rescued and nursed back to health by the lovely ward of Benedict Arnold's procurement officer in Philadelphia. McCracken is enamored of the girl, but she is married. When her husband returns from the front, McCracken flees and falls in with a band of British spies.
He switches sides again when he discovers his conscience, not because he favors one side over the other, but as a result of love. His actions now, make him a hero--albeit a reluctant one.
