Roxie Baptist Church Presents the Heart of Christmas
The Music Ministry of Roxie Baptist Church, Roxie, Mississippi will present “The Heart of Christmas, a musical created by Mike Speck, on Sunday, December 5th at 5:00 P.M. and at 7:00 P.M. Using lights, sound, and drama the musical highlights God’s greatest gift as our greatest choice.
Under the direction of Minister of Music, Danny Von Kanel, the work will feature soloist Lisa Smith, Caleb Stead, Danny Mullins, Jerry Combs, duet by Danny Mullins and Kristen Wilson playing Mary & Joseph, and a trio on the foot stomping “So Much God” made up of Carolyn Whitehead, Kaye Scott, and Danny Mullins .
Danny Von Kanel over the years has served Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, Mississippi (1998-2002), First Baptist Church, Franklinton, Louisiana (2002-2005) and Memorial Baptist Church, Bogalusa, Louisiana (2005-2008).
Mike Speck gives this message behind “The Heart of Christmas”: “Several years ago I heard an evangelist preach a message about the choices surrounding the birth of Jesus. It dealt with the side of the Christmas story I had never considered I wondered if that unique message I had heard so long ago was a concept I could illustrate musically. The more I thought about it, the clearer the ideas and direction came. The Heart of Christmas provides an opportunity to tell the story of Christ’s birth in a compelling way. It centers on the choices of Mary, Joseph, the Him.”
The general public is cordially invited to this Christmas presentation. A nursery will be provided. Rev. Ron Ball is the pastor of Roxie Baptist Church.
