I've been memed!! Yes I have, people! I have been tagged by Ms. Nordette Adams, http://jerseygoddess.blogspot.com/ award-winning fiction novelist, journalist and poet, the Queen of Goddess blog!
This is the first time I, Firebrand Lesbian Novelist have been memed, so slap the dog and spit in the fire, here are the Answers to the Questions!
1. One book that changed your life? Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes I first read this book in 1991 at the time of my rebirth. Every woman should read this book and every man should read this book also, it is a woman's bible of spirituality.
2. One book you have read more than once? Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard I am a faithful practitioner of Wicca, and...I am a staunch follower of the Church of Scientology, a Jungian, a Darwinist, survival of the fittest, believer in Evolution, practice Frederick Perl's Gestalt Therapy, and practice daily Zen Buddha meditation, these spiritual disciplines combined assist me in my daily creativity. Dianetics is an adventure! Terra-Incognita, the human mind, the vast, unknown realm half an inch back of our foreheads.
3. One book you would want on a desert island? Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat This book is for all seasons and for all reasons. The story of life among arctic wolves and survival among the fittest, a courageous family of skilled providers and devoted protectors of their young.
4. One book that made you laugh? Fear of Flying by Erica Jong A very funny, lusty, sexy novel, A Zipless Fuck for sure!
5. One book that made you cry? The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans A story so very worthy of the screenplay adaptation in which Robert Redford brings to life in a whisper on big screen. A story of animal compassion, therapy, inner and outer healing of a young girl, and a tender romance.
6. One book you wish you had written? How to Make an American Quilt by Whitney Otto A story stitched via the quilt to bond women and piece their lives together in very unique, historical patchwork with upgraded thread. Again, another novel so very worthy of the screen adaptation in which Maya Angelou and Winona Ryder played their respective roles extremely well.
7. One book you wish had never been written? The Surrendered Wife: a Practical Guide to Finding Intimacy, Passion, and Peace With Your Man by Laura Doyle This author says to be submissive to husbands and let them control the family finances. This is a weak author who is also a weak woman, but this book will create a strong fire in which all copies need burned! The only thing practical to do with this book is boycott it!
8. One book you are currently reading? TRUTH
9. One book you have been meaning to read, but just haven't gotten around to it? Sappho's Leap: A Novel by Erica Jong For who and why did Sappho, Greek goddess really jump off that cliff? Erica Jong will go down in herstory!
