| Connecticut author Steve Burt was a double winner in the 2003 Ray Bradbury Short Fiction Competition. His "Unk's Fiddle" took Second Place and a $50 prize, and his "The Praying Man" won the Honorable Mention. |
The annual competition is sponsored by the Waukegan (IL) Public Library in Bradbury's hometown. Entries are "blind" (no author name on mss) and are judged by Illinois English teachers. There are categories for high school students and for adults. Earlier in the week Burt learned that he had also doubled in the Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards (Genre Fiction and Inspirational). His website is www.burtcreations.com. Both stories can be read on authorsden.com.
