Brenda Hill of Yucaipa got a thrill Feb. 4 when her short story, “Am I Wife or Daugh-ter?” went to the top of the charts at Amazon.com. Her story ranked third in the nation behind a top New York author and Deepak Chopra.
“Oh my goodness, she said. “I'm so thrilled. “No matter the genre, I write stories about women in crisis, mainly because I've faced so many in my lifetime. Some I've worked through, others are still a struggle. I try to show the problem and some possible solutions in my fiction while celebrating the inner strength we sometimes forget we have. ‘Am I Wife or Daughter' is based on my own struggle with my mother's care. As in life, sometimes there are no solutions. Only choices we must make.”
An avid reader since her grandfather told stories about magical castles in his native France, Brenda Hill feels books are a joy. No matter her circumstances, she can open a book and find love, laughter, and a light to guide her way. Her first novel, Ten Times Guilty, garnered a four-star review from Romantic Times Book Review Magazine, Mystery & Suspense section, and her first short story, published by Dorchester Media, was featured as a ‘Twelve-Tissue Tearjerker.'
Currently working on her next novel, Brenda teaches fiction writing and edits on a freelance basis. Wow-Women on Writing interviewed her about editing for their ezine, and that can be seen at http://www.wow-wo-menonwriting.com/11-20questions.-html.
