Excerpt from MANCAVE PLAYBABES
It has been nine years since the last game in the series. Does time heal all pain? Not for Max Payne, not for the type of REVENGE situations he has a knack for finding!
For Max Payne, the tragedies that took his loved ones years ago are wounds that refuse to heal. No longer a cop, close to washed up and addicted to pain killers, Max takes a job in São Paulo, Brazil (Max refers to this area as “Baghdad in G-strings”), protecting the family of wealthy real estate mogul Rodrigo Branco, in an effort to finally escape his troubled past. But as events spiral out of his control, Max Payne finds himself alone on the streets of an unfamiliar city, desperately searching for the truth and fighting for a way out. The new setting is a welcomed change the previous shadows of New York City, and gamers will appreciate the change of scenery as well as cinematic effects that all tie into the story. Make no mistake here: Keeping in line with the earlier releases, the payoff for Max Payne is still in the narrative. That is not to say there haven’t been improvements to the game play.
