The Calico Cottage was our home, only 800 feet out the pier to the Cottage. It gave us a panoramic view at the marina basin. When Christmas arrived,
we were ready. Ole St.Nick really did pay us a visit. |
(Today is July 4th.2006 and I am again dreaming about this life and times we will always cherish.Wish we could relive that part of our lives.Dream on little boy, it's gone bye bye.)
The first snow might have been a warning, but I guess the summer and spring had provided us with an experience of our life time.Living on a houseboat, we did not realize would be the greatest cherished moments of our lives.
My professional prescription shop in the doctors building gave us an excuse to work hard for five days and play the rest. When they closed, we were not too far behind them. When weekends arrived the Atlanta crowd could not wait to get up the road to Lake Lanier to spend the weekends on their boats. We could not wait to spend every day on ours. If they were too noisy,we spent those days anchored down at the islands.
So when they weathered their boats for the winter we just remained.Little did our neighbors dream that we had sold everything we owned to buy our new home,"The Calico Cottage".
In a few weeks we knew that Ole St Nick would pay us a visit. So Judy began gathering driftwood, fresh water mussel shells and most anything from the Nautical world that provided the decor for our Christmas tree and other decorations. She sprayed the shells with colors of silver, red and geeen. Then applied glitter and sparkle and used our fishing line to attach to the cedar.
The lights just set it off, the music and bells.
But where was Santa on this cold night? There was no way to find us, we were out of sight.
There was a noise, by the light of the moon, Ole St Nick hadn't come by water,
he came by balloon.
