Not long ago, I was signing books at a Barnes & Noble in Exton, Pennsylvania near Philadelphia.  Rosene Compaine, the Community Relations Manager at the store, has been great to me.  She sets me up near the front door at a table with a stack of my books.

The rest is up to me.

I don't just sit there passively.  I stand and greet as many people as I can.  If they're browsing, I chat them up and tell them about my novel.  If I'm lucky, they buy a copy and ask me to sign it.

One of those people I was fortunate to meet is Sarah Peppel.  Sarah and I hit it off right away, perhaps because she's a fellow journalist and journalism professor.  She bought my book, read it -- and loved it.
