Soldiers reporting home from Afghanistan and Iraq to families and donation groups who put together care packages for them say they are enjoying the books of short stories by Jerry W. Engler sent to them.
One soldier involved in following tips for searches for contraband weapons said the books are "a lot of laughs" that help uplift troops after tough days. "We are passing them around, and sharing how much fun they are," the soldier told a family member by phone.
Ninety copies of Engler's three books, thirty of each, Just Folks: Earthy Tales of The Prairie Heartland, A Heartland Voice: Just Folks Two, and Highly Embellished Truth & Some Poetry: Just Folks Three, were included in packages for American soldiers put together by community contributors.
Names of the soldiers and their families are purposely deleted upon reccomendations for their personal security.
