The Bleeding Heart
Written by
Debra Faulconer Baker
Her innocent eyes full of fear
Another baby lost in society
The bleeding heart of her Brother
Watch over her
Giving all he has
His Love
In a kiss to calm her fears
Their Mother
Gone to find food
By way of a hand out
or
Rummaging through garbage cans
I am bitter and angry
The fools we've become
Where buildings stand vacant
Own by cities
Yet, their budgets have no lead way
For spending on the homeless
Instead
They allow them to dwell in hiding
Some too weak to even hide
Yet, others raise millions
In hope of saving people
In other countries
My people have lost hope
Children here are living in fear
Homeless
