| Our new paper dealing with early life environmental insults to the developing immune system and risk of childhood allergy and asthma is now avaiable (as of December,2008). This paper is coauthored with Dr. Judith T. Zelikoff of the Department of Environmental Medicine in the NYU School of Medicine. |
The peer-reviewed paper (Dietert and Zelikoff) has been published in the journal, Birth Defects Reseach Part B, volume 83 issue 6 pages 547-560. (2008). DOI: 10.1002/bdrb.20170.
It went online in mid-December and is now available in web-access and print. The article provides potential explantions for recent increases in prevalence of childhood allergies and asthma and why our current safety testing procedures for environmental chemical and drugs are not designed to identify potential risks factors for these diseases and conditions.
