| In my recently released book, The Prisoner’s Dilemma, I described how corporate personhood came about, and what a group of American citizens did about it. It now looks as if my cry for eliminating corporate personhood is beginning to be heard. Since the recent Supreme Court decision allowing corporate speech to be the same as human speech, i.e. subject to no restrictions, more and more people are realizing that this is an issue that needs to be addressed. |
True Predictions?

My most recent phone bill from Credo (formerly known as Working Assets) included the following statement:
“Stop the Corporate takeover of our elections
In January the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Citizens United v. The Federal Election Commission that no distinction can be made between the First Amendment rights of individuals and corporations in elections. This opens the way to unlimited spending by corporations to advocate for or against federal candidates. Congress must respond.
It should pass the Fair Elections Now Act, enabling candidates to run for office without money from special interests. Further, it should limit contributions by foreign corporations, enhance disclaimers in political ads, and propose a constitutional amendment to guard elections from corporate influence by
DECLARING THAT A CORPORATION IS NOT LEGALLY EQUIVALENT TO A PERSON. Urge Senator Christopher Dodd at 202.2242823 to pass real campaign-spending reform to get corporate money out of our elections.”
