An action-adventure author will discuss his methods during a program Thursday at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.
Don Martin of Bellevue, Wash, is visiting Coeur d'Alene to research locales for his next book. He will speak at 6 p.m. in the Nelson Memorial room at the Library, 201 E. Harrison Ave.
Martin's first novel, 'Spectrum,' follows the adventures of a shawdowy intelligence agency in its war against a radical group known as The Silent Wave.
Martin's career as a writer began after he retired. From 1961 following two years of military service in Germany, he worked for the Boeing Co. until 1988. His work took him to locations that included Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, and Tehran, Iran--sites he incorporates in his writing.
Martin said his presentation might be of interest to would-be authors.
The Coeur d'Alene Public Library's annual Writers Competition will begin on Jan. 31, when applications for the contest will be available. Entries can be submitted through March 31 in the competition, which is judged by professional writers and editors working in this region.
