FIVE STAR PUBLICATIONS CLAIMS FOUR AZ BOOK AWARDS PRIZES
(CHANDLER, AZ)-Two Five Star Publications books claimed top prizes at the annual Arizona Book Awards in Phoenix this weekend, and two additional books received recognition as contest finalists.
Keeping with tradition, the Arizona Book Publishing Association (ABPA) held its annual awards banquet on Saturday, May 9, presenting contest winners with trophy-style "Glyph" awards, representative of humanity's earliest written symbols.
Finalists were awarded certificates suitable for framing. Each year, the ABPA recognizes books in twenty categories, from children's fiction and history to art, cooking and business. Five Star Publications was awarded Glyph Awards in two categories:
Business/Career-Productivity Plus by Jim Temme. Written by a long-time corporate consultant and public speaker, Productivity Plus is a no-nonsense lifestyle guide that makes the secrets to corporate achievement and self-actualization affordable and accessible to everyone. It addresses time and stress management, balancing work with family life, fulfilling financial obligations and many other aspects of achieving both professional and personal success.
- Cookbook-Potluck Survival Guide by Cherie Kimmons. Hailed as a light-hearted handbook for "feeding the masses," Kimmons' Potluck Survival Guide includes kid-tested tips (with "grownup adaptations") for food preparation at school parties, community events, buffets, neighborhood potlucks, social functions and religious gatherings-anywhere a "feeding frenzy" may occur!
Along with its Glyph winners, Five Star Publications' is pleased to recognize the following finalists:
- Juvenile/Young Adult-Nonfiction-When Life Throws You a Curve by Elizabeth Golden. Diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 13, Golden shares her personal challenges and triumphs.
- Autobiography/Biography/Memoir-Misadventures of a Roving Cartoonist by Tom Gill and Tim Lasiuta. A self-taught cartoonist, Gill describes his remarkable life as the creator of the most famous comic books in American history.
