2010 PREMIER BOOK AWARDS’ PICKS ANNOUNCED: FIVE STAR AUTHOR RECOGNIZED IN TEXAS CONTEST
(CHANDLER, AZ)—On September 17, 2010, Five Star Publications’ author Mila Bernadkin was recognized at the 2010 Premier Book Awards in Pittsburgh, TX for her award-winning novel,
The Attitude Girl. Showcasing books of outstanding merit by small publishing houses and independent presses, the annual competition selects winners in multiple genres. The Attitude Girl was named “Best Novel of the Year” in Young Adult Fiction.
“We are thrilled for Mila and for the success of her inspirational novel,” said Linda F. Radke, founder and president of Five Star Publications. “We are always delighted when Five Star authors are recognized for the high quality of their work,
and we take pride in having been part of the process.”
“The competition was fierce and it was a difficult decision choosing from so many deserving books entered into this year's contest," said James R. Olson, CEO of Premier Book Awards.
"However, the judges were unanimous in their selection of The Attitude Girl as the winner."
Jam-packed with drama and emotional conflict, romance and humor, Bernadkin’s compelling coming-of-age story follows outspoken Victoria Benson, a materialistic 17-year-old, on her rocky road to adulthood as she struggles with financial setbacks, bullying, idealism, loss and forgiveness along the way. "You should be justifiably proud to have written such a wonderful, award-winning novel,” Olson told Bernadkin.
“All of us at Premier Book Awards sincerely hope your commercial success equals your literary achievement."
Bernadkin’s Premier Book Award marks the author’s 8th literary award for The Attitude Girl. The novel was previously named a First Place Winner at the 2009 London Book Festival and in the 2008 Arizona Authors Association Annual Literary Contest.
The novel also placed as a Finalist in the 2010 National Indie Excellence Awards and additionally received four Honorable Mentions in 2009/2010 competitions.
A native Russian speaker born in the Ukraine, Bernadkin is honored that her dream to publish successfully in America has come true . Bernadkin currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her daughter.
