Silly Little Love Poems is a compilation of poems describing love as not a beginning or ending, but a process that transforms the human heart to people, places, and moods unknown or unimagined. In preparing this collection of love poems, the author presents thematic examples of this “thing called love” that is part of every song and life. Whether you are currently in or out of love, the author’s words speak to you—that love is a journey that sometimes leads us into dark places and unhappy endings. The book is divided into six sections that describe: love’s moods, love’s delights, love’s hurts, love’s places, family and friends, and life’s endings.

Preface
As I started to write a series of love poems over two years ago it became clear that love is not a beginning or ending, but a process that transforms the human heart to people, places, and moods unknown or unimagined. In preparing this collection of poems I wanted to give some thematic semblance of this “thing called love” that is part of every song and life. Whether you are currently in or out of love, I hope my words speak to you—that love is a journey that sometimes leads us into dark places and unhappy endings.
The first section reflects on love’s moods and sounds that become more salient and exposed when two are in love. Much of this poetry draws on nature and listening to the silence around us. For to be in love is to be open to the sensory overload that nature provides to set the mood and ambience.
The second section speaks to love’s delights as two experience the delights and pleasures of each other. Sensuality and not sexuality is critical to experiencing what is referred to as being one with each other.
The third section touches our heart and soul of love’s hurts and losses. As with any journey, relationships become broken and beyond repair. I hope these poems speak to those who are out of love or between lovers. Because love leaves each partner vulnerable to the other, undoubtedly hurt and pain can occur when love dies. Renewal is a subtitle of this section of poetry in that although our hearts become hardened we must remain hopeful that love is eternal if we allow ourselves to heal our broken hearts.
The fourth section of love’s places is based on a series of lover’s holidays experienced by two in love. The landscapes are familiar to honeymooners and those who seek romantic interludes.
The fifth section focuses on family and friends who have been important to us and teach us about companionship and loyalty.
The last section speaks to life’s endings and sets a religious overtone. Aging, death, and dying are prominent themes, and a testament that love transcends even death.
