On Tuesday, September 2nd, I had an Authors Event at Orinda Books near San Francisco. It went well. I counted at least eight in attendance and the event ran for an hour with questions and answers. I plan to add a page to my Website soon with a few pictures. Orinda Books sold seven copies of Concubine and a local book club is interested. If we write books, the idea is to get out there so people know about what we wrote, and that is the reason I'm adding this as 'my' news.
I joined another Website called 'Manic Readers' because the Internet offers virtual opportunities similar to the Author Event I had at Orinda Books recently. Since I'm on that topic, does anyone reading this know of literary Blogs that do interviews or other similar Websites (I've been on a couple and usually add links on my Website's www.mysplendidconcubine opening page if you are interested)?
If you know of other sites that are worth visiting, please share this information.
There are places to have virtual Author Events and the 'Manic Readers' Website may be one of those places. The only way to find out is to check it out.
Don't read me wrong, Author's Den is still the best Website for authors and readers I've found. I visit several times a day reading, posting, leaving reviews, etc. I don't visit any other Website as often. The way AuthorsDen is organized and works still beats every other similar Website I've visited.
However, I heard about 'Manic Readers' from another author and its another site that is free for readers and authors. I just joined and it is different than Author's Den. It seems to focus only on novels and doesn't seem to be organized for short stories, bogs, etc. If you like to read or have a novel, you may find 'Manic Readers' interesting.
I copied this information from the 'Manic Readers Website' for anyone interested in checking it out, and I linked to the page where I signed up for free. I think of this like a virtual Author Event instead of in a brick and mortar bookstore--maybe it's more like a literary meeting place that is also a coffee shop. Can you smell the virtual coffee brewing. Heck, before you visit 'Manic Readers' brew some so it feels right.
