The author of "Conquering the Mysteries and Lies of Grief", Sherry Russell has volunteered with The Points of Light Foundation and Volunteer Center National Network.

The Points of Light Foundation's mission is to engage more people more effectively in volunteer community service to help solve serious social problems. Sherry's volunteer service project is as a Patient Representative working to aid and comfort people and their families with many different situations and diseases.

On September 11, 2002, Sherry will work in the memory of Shawn E. Bowman. Shawn was 28 years old when he lost his life at the World Trade Center. He was a Human Resouce Information Specialist and also a volunteer firefighter. His wife states that Shawn was a good husband and father to his son and was excited about the arrival of the birth of their second son.
