Feb. 2009: The publishing rights to High Spirits by Dianne K. Salerni have been sold to Sourcebooks, Inc., an independent publisher in Naperville, Illinois which also happens to be the largest woman-owned publishing company.
High Spirits, originally published by iUniverse in 2007, will be part of the line up in a new imprint for teens, called Sourcebooks Raven. High Spirits is the fictionalized story of real-life teenage spirit mediums, Maggie and Kate Fox, who invented "the seance" in 1848 as a prank. The novel follows their adventures from the conception of the prank, through their rise to fame, and into the star-crossed romance of Maggie Fox with celebrity explorer Elisha Kent Kane.
Sourcebooks has also optioned a second book by Salerni.
