Robert Hammond’s Grace Period Receives Rave Reviews
Controversial novel evokes comparisons to Pilgrim’s Progress
LONGWOOD, FL— Who is Abel Adams? Grace Period: The Awakening of Abel Adams (paperback, 978-1-60266-353-4), by Robert Hammond, traces a prodigal son’s metaphorical passage from addiction to freedom. Denying widespread rumors that the novel is merely Hammond’s thinly veiled autobiography, the author says, “Abel Adams is a composite of all of us who have gone astray at some point in our lives.”
According to Debra Gaynor of Reader Views, “From the moment I began to read Grace Period, I was hooked, I didn’t lay this one down until I’d read every word. I’m not sure any review can do justice to this amazing story. Abel Adams comes to life on the pages, each of us will see a bit of ourselves in the character.”
Reader Views’ interviewer Tyler Tichelaar says, “I am struck by the allegory of the story also, of Abel’s journey from an earthly hell to salvation, much like in John Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress” where Christian must find his way to the Celestial City, avoiding the Slough of Despond and other allegorical earthly pitfalls.”
Grace Period received Finalist Awards in two categories - both Religious Fiction and African American in PubInsider.com’s “NATIONAL 2007 INDIE EXCELLENCE 2007 BOOK AWARDS”. Jeff Bowen, president and publisher of PubInsider.com, said this year’s contest yielded over 700 entries.
A former spokesperson for Capital One Financial, Robert Hammond (www.roberthammond.net) is a screenwriter and the bestselling author of several books, including Identity Theft, Life After Debt, and Credit Secrets.
Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world’s largest Christian publisher, with more than 3,200 titles published to date. Retailers may order Grace Period through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.
