ArcheBooks Launches the ArchBookZine on the Fast Track – A Novel Concept
Las Vegas, NV – 5/09/2007. ArcheBooks Publishing( www.archebooks.com) announced today the debut of one of its bestselling titles, Fast Track by John DeDakis, in its new ArcheBookZine format.
“Fast Track is one of those rare novels that you simply can’t put down. I was hooked on page one and it was non-stop until the very end – an emotional roller coaster,” praised CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, anchor and host of CNN’s Situation Room and Late Edition.
“To launch this new project,” explained Robert Gelinas, ArcheBooks’ Publisher, “we started with a really great book, one of our bestselling titles, currently available in hardcover and as an eBook. Our goal was to produce a much more economical paperback version of the book, but we didn’t want to do what everyone else is doing. We wanted something distinctive and beneficial.”
So what is an Arche BookZine? Imagine a full-length, unabridged novel in a magazine-style format. It has a traditional trade paperback weight color cover, but a big one that is 8.2 x 11 inches. Its pages are in two column format, and the end result takes a 300 page hardcover novel around an inch thick and creates a format that is now less than a quarter inch thick.
“What we’ve achieved,” added Ralph Wolf, ArcheBooks COO, “are enhancements to Marketability, Readability, Portability, and Economy. Quite simply, the large format cover allows us to add more blurbs/endorsements, descriptions, author information and excerpts, which helps a consumer determine if this is the book for them. Its magazine-style pages are easier on the eyes, helping to increase reading speed and comprehension. It fits in a briefcase or seatback pocket on an airplane as easy as any other magazine. And with an MSRP of $14.95 it competes very effectively, price-wise, with both traditional trade paperbacks and mass market paperbacks.”
“In a word, the ArcheBookZine is EASY,” said Mr. Gelinas. “Easy to find. Easy on the eyes. Easy to carry. And easy on the wallet. We think this new format will particularly appeal to readers who may feel that buying a novel is a daunting commitment of time that many people are wary of investing these days. The look of a magazine brings its own comfort zone to the table, one of light, leisurely entertainment. But what the reader gets is the enjoyment of a truly great novel—and without all the advertising cluttering up half the pages.”
Mr. Wolf also noted, “It’s our intention to offer many of our bestselling titles in this new format moving forward, as well as introducing some original titles as Arche BookZines. This isn’t replacing our traditional hardcover editions, just giving book lovers yet another medium to enjoy the works of our talented authors.”
Arche BookZines are available from the ArcheBooks website (www.archebooks.com), or from your local book retailer. For an inaugural copy of John DeDakis’ Fast Track, order via ISBN-10:1-59507-102-4, or ISBN-13: 978-159507-102-6. For retailers, normal trade discounts apply, with full returnability.
