| Award-winning journalist and fiction author to teach writing course. |
Steven E. Wedel will be teaching "Newspapers to Novels: Using Journalism Techniques to Enhance Your Fiction" at the Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City, Okla. this fall.
This is a nine-week course Wedel designed himself, drawing on his experience as both a journalist and author of fiction. The class will meet for three hours one night per week.
"I'm hoping for a good enrollment," Wedel said. "I think this will be a good class for anyone with an interest in writing fiction."
Wedel added that students should come to class with a firm grasp of grammar and spelling.
"This will be fast-paced," he said. "I won't have time to add commas. Students need to know how to construct a sentence."
The class will cover the hard news story, feature stories, personal columns and students will write one short fictional story and outline a novel.
