PRESS RELEASE:
Simon B Jones, The Battles are the Best Bits
A Cambridgeshire writer is hoping to conquer the literary world with his action-packed book on famous battles.
Simon B Jones has spent an incredible ten years researching the exploits of Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Hannibal and more to bring his debut book The Battles are the Best Bits to readers on Amazon.
The married 34-year-old has been a big fan of history since childhood and has turned his passion into a cracking read that has already attracted glowing reviews.
“The book is a narrative history which traces events from the Akkadian conquest of Sumer in the Third Millennium BC to the collapse of the Umayyad Caliphate in 750 AD,” said Simon.
“I have chosen to write the book in an engaging style and is aimed squarely at the general reader who would like to know more about Ancient History and the book seeks to deliver a very thorough account of the key events and personalities without appearing too daunting.
“To this end I take the reader with me on my journey as I describe the experience of wanting to further my own knowledge and becoming increasingly passionate about history to the point of deciding to write my own book. This is serious history but told with a light-hearted personal slant.”
Simon added: “The pages of history are filled with incredible characters; all-conquering warlords, despotic tyrants, debauched megalomaniacs and cunning political manipulators. Their deeds both great and diabolical provide as much drama as any fictitious characters could.”
The Battles are the Best Bits has already proved a hit with readers on Amazon.
One reviewer said: “The book is filled with the authors black humour, which works very well and this is coupled with an obvious passion for the subject.”
Another wrote: “For me the people and places came alive, as the author tells the story with his own warmth and humour, while sharing his knowledge and increasing mine.”
