| Holding on to Faith when we are faced with some of life''s most difficult challenges is indeed a challenge for us all. This is the story of how my the writer''s family held on to their faith when my husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I cannot print the story here, yet, but I just wanted to share my good news with you all. But to sum it up, it says that you have to have faith in God and believe that whatever obstacle Satan throws at you in life, God will see you through it. But you must have faith AND believe. |

February 3, 2003- Vanessa A. Johnson, a writer from Ama was given an Honorable Mention for her entry in the 2002 Obadiah Press Writing Contest in January. The contest, sponsored by Obadiah Press, a Christian publishing house located in Merrill, Wisconsin, drew entries from throughout the United States and even abroad.
Johnson’s entry entitled “When A Terrible Illness Strikes,” was selected for inclusion in a book entitled Living By Faith to be published by Obadiah Press later this year.
“The theme of this year’s contest was ‘faith,’” says Tina L. Miller, Editor in Chief at Obadiah Press. “And we received a lot of really great essays. It was very difficult to determine which stories would go into the book.”

In addition to this piece, Johnson has five (5) letters that have been accepted for publication in the Celebrations Anthology that is slated for publication later this year and a poem, “What Foods Would Have Made You Grow,” that will be included in a book Anthology for “Down The Cereal Aisle.” In addition, Johnson has penned her first non-fiction book, “When Death Comes A Knockin’,” that deals with the loss of a love one through death and the grief process, that is in the review process with PublishAmerica.
Johnson is excited to be among the writers whose work was selected for publication in the upcoming anthology. “My prayer is that through my writing, I hope to Enlighten, Inspire and Encourage the reader,” Johnson says.
